On behalf of the College Council, staff, and on my own behalf, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to our website.

Medicare Health Professionals College is committed to increasing the urgently needed number of mid-level health workers in Uganda and the region, and to providing well-skilled health professionals.

The College provides an alternative opportunity for high school leavers and health workers who wish to upgrade their qualifications, many of whom cannot be absorbed by the few public tertiary institutions in Uganda. Above all, MHPC provides job creators rather than job seekers, because the health market is still large and demanding. Our graduates soon begin providing health services in both the public and private sectors.

We emphasise the completion of the teaching curriculum and the acquisition of the required skills and attitudes necessary for a good health worker. However, we strongly feel that more training should be geared towards task shifting, for example, clinical officers providing emergency obstetric surgery, as well as post-training internships to perfect the skills and attitudes acquired during training.

We are proud of our modest contribution and pray that many collaborators will join us to strengthen our community-based education, research, and services approach, in order for our contribution to be more meaningful to our partner communities.
